A look at recent work across Canberra's inner south — overgrown beds cleared, hedges taken out, trees removed and fences rebuilt. Drag the slider on each photo to compare.
A large corner block where the front garden had disappeared. Roughly 40 m² of agapanthus had spread across the verge and swallowed the bed, the footpath edge and the base of the established hedge. We removed the full bed including the rhizomes — the step most people skip, and the reason agapanthus always comes back.
Once the main bed was done, the client asked us to carry the same finish around the front of the house and down the driveway. Same treatment: cleared to soil, edged, then mulched to a consistent depth. The driveway gained close to a metre of usable width back, and the mulch line now reads as one continuous edge from the street to the carport.
Decades of unchecked hedge growth had leaned onto the old fence and taken over the driveway — the client could no longer get a car past to the garage, and the fence underneath had failed. We took the hedge out in full, including the root mass, removed the old fence and built a new timber paling fence back on the correct boundary line with a capping rail.
The whole back yard taken back to bare soil, rotary hoed and levelled, then new turf laid wall to wall. The prep is the part that decides how a lawn sits — get the base right and it knits in flat, with no dips or seams showing once it takes.
